TAINAN — Premier Frank Hsieh on Sunday rode on a test train on Taiwan's high-speed railway as it successfully conducted a test run at the targeted speed of 300 kilometers per hour.

Hsieh, inspecting the ongoing construction work, rode on the Japan-made Shinkansen train for the 60-km run in southern Tainan County. The train achieved 300 kph, the highest test speed so far, for the first time last weekend.
