SEOUL — The United States and South Korea have tentatively agreed on cutting the number of U.S. bases in the country to 17 from the current 41, and the amount of the land used by U.S. troops by two-thirds by 2011, according to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.
The agreement, to cut the amount of the land to about 8,300 hectares from about 24,000 hectares, was reached at bilateral talks held Friday in Washington, Yonhap said. (Kyodo News)
